Because the head is flat. The combustion chamber's entirely in the piston.

Ugh...you had to pick my least favorite engine. I ported the head on one with the long/short runner arrangement. What a nightmare. As a sporting engine, it's crap. As an exercise in lowest possible component/manufacturing cost for it's displacement(torque), it's brilliant. Combustion efficiency is poor at best. 170hp out of a naturally aspirated 2.8L v6 is near the bottom compared to it's contemporaries. It's surprisingly heavy. Boost it and it's Iron block guts are strong enough to take a beating, but there are other engines that can claim the same.

Bruh. With 4 valves per cylinder the head is not flat.

In the whiteboard part of the video, the guy said one camshaft worked all the exhaust valves and one worked all the intake valves, but in the demonstration part each shaft simply had exhaust and intake lobes.
Was the diagram outright wrong, or is this just something that varies?

I do for my 4000Q, because they're dirt cheap, and a lot easier to turbo & run on standalone. No normal-person affordable standalone can run the VVT on the 24Vs. I love them too though, as I had a 24V GTI for 160k, and it was (and remains) a great car.
